Becoming a consignor with My Best Friend's Closet Consignment Sale is Easy! Start by taking a look in your closet and pull out all of the items that you aren't planning to wear this coming season. You will be surprised how fast your pile will grow. If you can come up with at least $100 in retail value then you can become a consignor at the sale. You will receive 50% of the sale of your items and we will promptly send you a check within 2-3 weeks of the event. There will also be a $8.50 charge that will be deducted from your final sale total for paperwork fee's.
You can Log-In to our interactive system to open your account at the link below. Please remember there are only 99 consignor spots so sign up early in your are interested in participating.
You will be responsible for pricing your items but we caution you to price them as you would expect to buy them in a consignment store. You will also be responsible for preparing your items for the sale by hanging & tagging them as required.
Then sit back and let us do the rest. We market the sale to thousands of Rhode Islanders and you can review your sales each night of the sale on our interactive system. You will end up with some spending cash to put towards your next season of fashion items.
Each item you consign needs to be entered into the database. You can easily do this by logging into the system and entering each of your items. You need to enter a category and price for each item. You will then need to select the create tags key which will generate a pdf document with your tags. You will need to print out your tags on white cardstock paper. Tags will not be accepted on standard white printer paper. You will then attach the price tags to your items with either a tagging gun or simply by using safety pins. The price tags need to be affixed to label of each item. Each clothing item needs to be hung on a wire hanger. The clothing should all be hung in a uniform direction. They should be hung so the top of the hanger looks like a question mark.
All of the hangers, tagging guns, cardstock paper, safety pins, etc. can be purchased through local discount retailers, Staples, or online. Please contact me if you have any difficulty finding any of these supplies or have any questions about preparing your items.
You will also need to read and sign a consignor agreement form at drop off which will be required to participate in the sale.
volunteering
The success of our sale is in large part due to a great volunteer team. We encourage all consignors to sign up for a volunteer shift of 4 hours where you can assist with the sale. For each 4 hour volunteer shift (up to 3 shifts) you will increase your sales percentage by 5% (up to 15%.) Volunteers are responsible for helping with the shop set up, breakdown, and assisting shoppers. You can also select to volunteer at the sale without being a consignor. All volunteers have the same perks as consignors and are eligible to come to the pre-shopping event on Thursday night with 1 friend. You can sign up to volunteer online.
